What I like most about our generation is that it is perfectly acceptable to act like a teenager well into your twenties. Aside from making rent, my goals today are mostly the same as they were when I was 16. I'm still pretending to be cool, chasing girls, and trying to get drunk- only now I'm much better at doing it. I'm not saying it's not pathetic, I'm just saying...

Nashville trio, Girls in the Eighties, sound like they've been living age 16 on repeat. They sing about adolescent problems and seem genuinely frustrated at their inability to solve them. Unlike the other acts that use Adolescent Sexuality as a tagline (I'm looking at you, xx) Their angsty I-don't-give-a-fuck-ness suits my memories of late childhood just fine. Not only do they have the requisite sound of being recorded in mom's wood-panelled attic, but there are hints of childhood influences everywhere, including the light sega-esque background programming.

Girls in the Eighties released a version of their full length "Teenage Royalty" on their myspace page, and expect a full release by the end of this month, possibly with a few extra tracks. Here's a preview.
